Our Story

Every great story starts with an idea.

Growing up in St. Augustine, Florida, I was surrounded by family traditions, Southern hospitality, and the rich Minorcan heritage that makes our hometown so special. One saying I heard throughout my childhood was, “Waste not, want not.” That simple lesson stayed with me long after childhood and would eventually inspire the beginning of Florida Krackers Sauce & Spice Co.

Years ago, I grew tired of throwing away aging fruits and vegetables and decided to learn the art of dehydration to reduce waste in my own kitchen. One quiet evening, sitting at my dining room table with a glass of wine, I found myself wondering:

“What am I going to do with all these dehydrated vegetables now?”

Then it hit me.

I was already adjusting store-bought seasonings to suit my family’s tastes, so why not create my own?

What started as a simple idea quickly became a passion. Friends and family began asking for bottles of their own, and before long, they encouraged me to take my products to the local farmers' markets. The response was overwhelming, and Florida Krackers was born. As the business grew and evolved, so did the company, eventually becoming Florida Krackers Sauce & Spice Co while remaining known locally as Florida Krackers.

What I discovered at those markets was something I loved even more than creating products. I loved sharing stories, traditions, and flavors with my community. I loved meeting people, hearing their stories, and welcoming them to my table through the foods and flavors that had shaped my own life.

As Florida Krackers grew, so did my passion for preserving one of St. Augustine’s most iconic flavors: the Datil pepper.

What began as handcrafted seasonings eventually evolved into something much bigger. The demand for our Datil Pepper Sauce grew beyond anything we could have imagined. As more families, restaurants, food trucks, and retailers discovered our sauce, our focus naturally shifted toward meeting that demand while maintaining the quality and authenticity our customers had come to expect.

Today, Florida Krackers is focused on sharing the authentic flavors of St. Augustine through our award-winning Datil Pepper Sauce.

Inspired by authentic Minorcan flavor traditions and proudly produced in Florida, our signature sauce earned 3rd Place at ZestFest 2024 and has become a favorite among local families, restaurants, food trucks, and Datil pepper enthusiasts throughout the state.

While our current focus remains on Datil Pepper Sauce, the seasonings that started this journey have never been forgotten. As Florida Krackers continues to grow, we look forward to bringing back additional Florida-inspired spice blends one at a time, building on the same foundation that started it all.

Florida Krackers has never been just about hot sauce. It’s about hospitality. It’s about fellowship. It’s about gathering around a dinner table, a backyard cookout, or a local restaurant and sharing something meaningful with the people around you.
